Equilibrant Ltd. is a director led, independent and highly specialist infrastructure and engineering consultancy. We are based in Belfast and, operate throughout the UK and Ireland. Our in-house expertise offers clients a unique “end-to-end” service by providing civil and structural design, procurement, and project management services.
The Managing Director, Dr Jim Cromie founded Equilibrant Ltd in 2009. Jim is a Fellow of both the Institution of Structural Engineers & the Institution of Civil Engineers and is on the IStructE’s expert witness register. Jim is highly experienced in structural design, subsidence project management for the insurance industry and has a PhD in the electrochemical treatment of reinforced concrete structures.
Equilibrant’s Technical Director, Robert Devenney, is a highly experienced chartered engineer who is also a fully qualified commercial diver. Robert specialises in infrastructure condition appraisal and asset management, civil structural design & assessment, and NEC procurement/contract management. Since joining in 2013, he has worked closely with the Managing Director to develop Equilibrant Ltd. into a successful and reputable engineering consultancy. Over the years the business has expanded to offer a wide range of specialist technical services and have been involved in the design, assessment, and life cycle management of vital civil infrastructure throughout Ireland.
Equilibrant has a well-balanced and knowledgeable team of experienced engineers, graduates and technicians, land surveyors and commercial divers. Every year, we welcome degree placement students and offer a practical interactive educational experience which allows the students to thrive.
